Well, if you had the Hickory Crawdads in the 13-run office pool on Sunday, you won yourself some money. The Crawdads outlasted the Delmarva Shorebirds 13-10 Sunday night in a wild game at L.P. Frans Stadium.

The Crawdads (62-44 overall; 21-16, second half of the South Atlantic League season) pounded out 12 hits, including four home runs, and the teams combined for 23 runs on 29 total hits, including nine combined long balls.

The win also keeps Hickory within three games of first place Greensboro in the Northern Division of the SAL. The Grasshoppers defeated Augusta 7-4 on Sunday.

Catcher Joe Jackson led the Hickory attack, going 4-5 with a triple, a double, and three runs-batted-in. Delmarva third baseman Drew Dosch paced the Shorebirds (55-51; 17-20), going 4-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored.

Four different players homered for the Crawdads---Evan Van Hoosier, Nomar Mazara, Zach Cone, who also drove in three runs, and Travis Demeritte, who belted his league-leading 20th home run of the season. Mazara is right behind Demeritte with 18 long balls on the year.

Trailing 6-2, the Crawdads erupted for six runs in the bottom of the third for an 8-6 lead. Cone had the big blow with a three-run shot in the frame.

The Shorebirds tied the game with two runs in the top of the fourth, but the Crawdads jump right back on top, thanks to Demeritte's \two-run blast in the bottom of the fourth for a 10-8 lead. The 'Birds narrowed at 10-9 in the fifth on Conor Bierfeldt solo home run, but a three-run sixth inning gave the Crawdads a four-run lead at 13-9.

Van Hoosier and Mazara ignited the rally back-to-back home runs;, Jackson had an RBI double in the inning. Left-hander Ryne Slack gave up a run in the eighth, but he shut the door from there with a perfect ninth inning to nail things down.

Patrick Kaminska (2-0) earned the win, despite giving up three runs on five hits in three innings of relief. The Crawdads and the Shorebirds will play game three of their four-game series tonight at 7:00 p.m.
