Madison Bumgarner picked up right where he left off before the All-Star Game. The winning pitcher last Sunday against Arizona in the final game before the break, Bumgarner led the San Francisco Giants to a 9-

1 win at the Miami Marlins Friday night as the second half of the Major League season officially got underway.

Bumgarner (11-7) went six innings and gave up an earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts. The win moves San Francisco () into a first-place tie with the Los Angeles Dodgers (though, if you want to get technical, the Giants lead the Dodgers by one percentage point) in the National League West.

The Dodgers lost at St. Louis 3-2 Friday night.

Bumgarner's only blemish Friday night was a solo home run to Giancarlo Stanton in the sixth inning. Bumgarner tossed just 84 pitches during the outing before he was replaced to start the seventh. He makes his next scheduled start against the Phillies this coming week.
