Nomar Mazara snapped Hickory's mini slump on Wednesday afternoon as he clubbed a pair of home runs in a 7-2 win over the Lakewood BlueClaws at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Mazara was 3-4 game including two home runs, three runs-batted-in, and three runs scored. Winning pitcher David Ledbetter (3-4) was dominant on the mound with five shutout innings.

He scattered two hits, walked one and he struck out three. Wednesday's victory also snapped a seven-game home losing streak for the Crawdads. Hickory (57-39 overall; 16-11, second half of the South Atlantic League season) is 4-2 against the BlueClaws (36-60; 9-18) this season.

Mazara got things rolling in the second inning, when the Crawdads' slugger lined the first pitch of the inning from Lakewood starter Jon Prosinski over the right field wall for a solo homer and a 1-0 lead. The advantage doubled to 2-0 with a run-scoring single from Michael De Leon in the third inning.

Nick Urbanus came through with an RBI single in the fourth; Mazara made it 5-0 with an RBI single in the fifth. Urbanus tripled home a run in the sixth and later scored on Luis Marte's base hit.

Mazara closed out the scoring with a solo home run in the seventh, his second of the game and his 15th homer of the year.

Joining Mazara with a good game at the plate was Urbanus, who went 2-4 with a triple, two RBIs, and a run, while Marte ended the afternoon 2-4 with a double, RBI, and run scored.

The Crawdads (16-11) and BlueClaws (9-18) will play the rubber match of their three game series Thursday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 pm.
