The 2014 Lees-McRae women's volleyball team will play in 27 matches this fall, head coach Dave Schmidlin announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Bobcats look to bounce back from a tough 2013 season and will return three players from last season's squad. Junior Jordan Banta and transfer juniors Allyson Schillinger and Jariliz Cotté will be the only upperclassmen on the roster.

The team will be on the road for 17 matches while entertaining the home crowd for 10.

LMC travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. for a quartet of matches for its opening weekend (Sept. 5-6). It will make the trek to Aiken, S.C. the following weekend to play in another four matches (Sept. 12-13).

Coach Schmidlin's team will open up a six-match homestand on Sept. 16 when they welcome Conference Carolinas foe Pfeiffer. All six matches will be conference, including a battle against CC newcomer Southern Wesleyan (Oct. 4).

LMC will spend its next four contests on the road, including a nonconference tilt against Fayetteville State (Oct. 11).

The Bobcats return home for four of their next five, including a home-and-away series against Winston-Salem State.

LMC concludes the regular season with a four-match road trip while the conference tournament quarterfinals begin Nov. 11.

"I am excited about the challenging slate, it will test this group early and often," said Schmidlin. "We are fortunate to have our first six conference matches at home in front of the LMC crowd, which will help generate momentum for the rest of the season."
