The Watauga 10-and-under boys' baseball team was eliminated Friday night in the Tar Heel Boys' Midget League Tournament in Sparta, N.C. Watauga lost to Wilkes National 8-6 Friday night.

 

 

Brooks Howser led Watauga offensively going 2-2, Bryson Aldridge was 1-2, Aiden Dye was 1-2, Mason Stewart was 1-3 with a double in the loss.

 

"I'm very pleased with our team," said Watauga coach Harvey Aldridge. "They put in a great effort this season. We placed 3rd in the district.. I could not be more proud of them."

 

 

This concludes our coverage of all-star tournament play. GBR would like to thank, the Watauga County Parks and Recreation Department, Stephen Poulos, Jay Jackson, Bill Dicus, and all of the coaches and their families that provided us with information and results throughout the week-long tournament.

 

Wilkes American won the Tar Heel League 10-and-under Girls Fastpitch Softball Tournament championship Friday night. Wilkes American defeated Alleghany 17-1 in the championship game at Watauga High. Both Wilkes American and Alleghany  advance to the state tournament in Morganton, July 17-20. Wilkes American goes into the state tournament as the No.1 seed; Alleghany is the No.2 seed.
