That phrase best describes the mood of the Hickory Crawdads. The Crawdads, mired in a six-game losing streak, had a breakout game Thursday night as they pounded the Rome Braves 15-0 State Mutual Stadium.

The Crawdads (55-36 overall; 14-8 second half of the South Atlantic League season) pounded out 15 hits in the win; Nomar Mazara and Ronald Guzman led the way with four runs-batted-in apiece. Kellin Deglan continued his hot hitting by driving in three runs. The Crawdads also posted their seventh shutout of the season, and they've won 11 in a row on the road.

Hickory put the contest out of reach by scoring four runs in the top of the fist; they added six more runs in the second inning. Mazara had a two-run single in the first inning; Guzman highlighted the second-inning explosion by belting a grand slam that gave the Crawdads a commanding 10-0 lead.

The Crawdads also took advantage of two errors and ten walks in the blowout win. Ryan Cordell led the attack with a perfect 3-3 night including two walks and three runs scored; Mazara was 2-5 with four RBI, and Guzman was 1-3 with a grand slam and four RBI. Kellin Deglan drove in three runs.

In an unusual official scoring twist, David Ledbetter (2-4) was awarded both the win and the save (his first of the year) for the Crawdads after throwing three scoreless innings. He held the Braves (29-63; 5-17 ) to two hits with no walks, and two strikeouts.

The Crawdads are now 5-0 against the Braves this season. The two teams meet up again Friday night at 7:00 p.m., for game two of their four-game series.
