The Texas Rangers announced today that Hickory Crawdads center fielder Lewis Brinson has been promoted to the high Class-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans, becoming the fourth 'Dad this season to move up

in the Rangers organization. The Pelicans are members of the Carolina League.

Infielder Nick Urbanus will replace Brinson on the roster. Urbanus is moving up from the Arizona League. Urbanus played 23 games with the 'Dads earlier this season, batting .181 with five doubles and five runs-batted-in before going on the disabled list May 13. Urbanus also spent time with the Crawdads the last two years..

Brinson, 20, had been on fire for the Crawdads in the second half of the South Atlantic League season. Brinson is scoring hot. He's batting .439 with seven home runs and 12 RBI in 11 games played since the All-Star break. A first round selection by the Rangers in the 2012 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, Brinson missed more than five weeks of the seaon due to injuries, but compiled a .335 average with 10 homers, 28 RBI.

He also had seven stolen bases in 43 games played. Brinson was also a member of last year's record-breaking team. The Crawdads led the SAL in homers, and Joey Gallo was the overall minor-league home run champion. Brinson became the first 'Dad in team history to finish with a 20/20 season after hitting 21 home runs and stealing 24 bases.

Brinson joins fellow 2014 Crawdads Nick Vickerson, Abel De Los Santos, and Kevin Torres on the Pelicans roster.
