Watauga High Athletic Director Tom Wright was hoping was kick back a bit during the summer break. Unfortunately, those plans have been somewhat derailed.
The WHS athletic department is now searching for two coaching replacements following the recent resignation of softball coach Stephanie Kostis.
Kostis resigned last week, the job was posted by the Watauga County School Board last Thursday, and the position will stop taking applications on Monday, July 7.
Kostis, who played collegiately at Appalachian State University, spent four years with the WHS softball program. She led the Pioneers to the state playoffs three times. Kostis was 27-52 during her tenure.
According to sources, Kostis wants to focus on teaching and spending more time at home with her family.
WHS is also looking for a girls' soccer coach after Brittany Bolick stepped down after the end of the season.
