This is getting monotonus. The Hickory Crawdads have just forgotten how to lose. The 'Dads (45-28 overall; 4-0 second half of South Atlantic League play) won their seventh consecutive game, and they

won for the 19th time in their last 20 games on Sunday afternoon. Hickory scored four times in the eighth inning and defeated the Rome Braves 4-3 at State Mutual Stadium to complete the four-game sweep.

The Crawdads, who were limited to seven hits in the first seven innings, erupted for four runs on five hits in the eighth to take the lead. Nomar Mazara delivered the decisive blow, lining a two-run triple over the head of Braves right fielder Connor Lien to put the 'Dads ahead. Ryan Cordell followed with a RBI single to score Mazara before he came in to score on a RBI double by Kellin Deglan.

That explosion gave the Crawdads a 4-1 lead. The Braves (24-50; 0-4), who grabbed a 1-0 lead on a solo home run by first baseman Jake Schrader in the second inning, retaliated with two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Connor Oliver and Blake Brown each had an RBI in the frame cutting the lead to one at 4-3.

Relief pitcher Josh McElwee, who was victimized for two runs in the bottom of the eighth, settled down and retired the side in order in the ninth for his fourth save of the year. Starting pitchers Cole Wiper of the Crawdads went five innings and gave up a run on six hits. Felix Carvallo (2-2), who threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, picked up his second win of the season.

Mazara led the way offensively for Hickory going 2-4 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Joe Jackson had a perfect night at the plate going 3-3 with a walk and a run scored; Janluis Castro and Luis Marte were both 2-4 on the day.

The Crawdads will now head home for their first home stand of the second half. The 'Dads will host the Kannapolis Intimidators for a four-game series at L.P. Frans Stadium starting on Monday night, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
