Region 7 Advances To Medal Round PDF Print

The Region 7 baseball team won its second consecutive game Friday night by knocking off Region 8 7-1 in the Junior/Senior High School Baseball Showcase at UNC-Charlotte at the North Carolina Powerade State




Region 7 (2-0) will now play Region 2 Saturday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. for the Bracket B championship and a berth in the gold medal game Sunday afternoon. Region 2 (2-0) defeated Region 1 9-2 on Friday morning.


Region 7, thanks to another strong game from Brock Johnson of South Caldwell and Seth Hastings of Bandys High, marched its wayinto the medal round. Johnson had two hits and drove in three runs; Hastings had a pair of hits. Johnson now had four hits and four runs-batted-in in his first two games..


Zach Little of Lake Norman was 1-2 with a pair of RBI. Brady Watts of North Surry got the start and picked up the win. He tossed three scoreless innings, allowed

three hits and struck out three. Seth Brown of Wilkes Central mopped things up with 1.2 scoreless innings of work.


Joseph Lowder of Ashe County did not play Friday night; Utah Jones of Watauga was 0-3 with a walk.
