|227 Student-Athletes Named to SoCon Honor Roll|

Appalachian State University had 227 student-athletes named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2013-14 academic year, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Football paced the Mountaineers with 39 honorees, followed by women's soccer, who placed 28 on the list.
Of the 227 Appalachian student-athletes recognized, 11 of them boasted a 4.0 GPA for the 2013-14 year, including Logan Hallock and Cody McKinney (football), Walker White (men's soccer), Amy Kolowsky and Nicole Steyl (women's soccer), Whitney Johnson and Kristen Terry (softball), Olivia Isbey (women's tennis), Debra Domermuth and Makayla Roten (women's track and field) and Kaleb Forrest (wrestling).
Elon had the league-best, landing 230 student-athletes on the list, while Appalachian closely followed and tied Chattanooga with 227. A total of 1, 915 student-athletes from the 11 member insitutions recieved the honor.
The SoCon Academic Honor Roll consists of varsity student-athletes who post a 3.0 grade-point average or higher while passing at least 24 hours in two semesters.
