Appalachian State University baseball’s Bradley Morton (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) has been named the Coastal Plain League Hitter of the Week, the CPL office announced on Monday.

Morton, a rising senior playing for the CPL’s High Point-Thomasville HiToms this summer, hit .500 (11-for-22) with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI, six runs scored and three stolen bases in six games last week. The right-handed first baseman/outfielder hit safely in 5-of-6 games with four multi-hit efforts. He had three hits apiece in wins over Asheboro (June 10) and Martinsville (June 11).

This spring, Morton banged out 13 hits and drove in eight runs in limited action (18 starts) in his first season at Appalachian State.

The Coastal Plain League is a wood-bat collegiate summer league with 14 teams in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Morton is one of 14 Appalachian State baseball players playing in NCAA-endorsed summer leagues across the nation this summer.
