Lowder, Richie Named All-MVC PDF Print

The Ashe County High baseball team had two players named to the Mountain Valley 1A-2A Conference all-conference team. Leading the was was pitcher Joseph Lowder, who led the Huskies with five wins, a

save and a 1.19 earned-run-average. He was joined on the all-conference team by catcher Bradley Richie.

 

 

Lowder a sophomore, also had 97 strikeouts this season. Offensively, he batted .288 and drove in eight runs.

 

Richie was second on the team with a .329 batting average and he was tied for the team lead with nine RBI’s.

 

Hunter Barnes and Joe Richardson of the Huskies were named honorable mention. Richardson was Ashe County's leading hitter with a .338 batting average; Barnes was second on the team in runs scored and tied for the team lead with nine RBI.

 

Austin Staley of Wilkes Central, who signed with North Carolina State, was named MVC Player of the Year; head coach Terry Johnson of the Eagles was named MVC Coach of the Year.
