The Tailwind Track Club of Watauga County competed in High Point, N.C., last weekend in the Ken Roberts Challenge. Tailwind had 12 top-ten finishes. Kipenzi Perry led the way winning Tailwind's only event in the girls' 1,500-meter run in the 8-10 year-old age group. She paced the field in 7:04.32. It was also a personal-best mark
for Perry. Holden Perry turned in a second-place finish and had a personal-best (5:14.25) in the boys' 1,500 in the 11-12 year-old age group; Tristan Salinas finished fourth in the girls' high jump with a personal-best effort of 3-feet, 6-inches in the 9-10 year-old division.
Tailwind had 30 personal-best efforts. Among those were Chase Perry (9-10 year olds), who finished fifth, in the boys' 1,500 (5:38.67); Cole Horine (9-10) finished sixth in the 1,500 (5:42.42); Virginia St. Clair (9-10) finished sixth in the girls' 1,500 in 6:46.86. Chase Perry had a ninth-place finish in the boys' 800 (2:52.86); Kipenzi Perry was (8-and-under) finished seventh in the girls' 800 (3:41.55).
Zach Styron (17-18) had a seventh-place finish in the 200/400 hurdles (1:01.03), he finished ninth in the long jump (18-9) and he finished ninth in the 80/100/110 hurdles in 16.14 seconds; Kate Sears (8-and-under) was eighth in the girls' long jump (8-4).
