The Watauga High boys' lacrosse team, coming off its second state playoff appearance in a row, had four players named to the North Carolina Conference 13 all-conference squad. Canyon Mueller, Zack Williams, Tyler Valet and Andrew Stratton were named to the all-conference team.

The Pioneers, who won a conference championship last spring, were 5-8 this season under first-year coach Brett Green. WHS was 5-3 in NC13 play and finished third. The Pioneers lost to Southwest Guilford in the second round of the state playoffs.

Our entire team played really well after our slow start," Green said. Andrew, Canyon, Zack and Tyler had outstanding seasons for us. Tyler backboned our offense, Andrew was a solid goaltender and an really develop into something special, Zack and Canyon did the bulk of our scoring. I am so proud of these guys and for our team. It was a fun team to coach."
