It sure was for freshman Nick Williams. Williams, who graduated from Watauga High last spring and is the Pioneers' all-time leading scorer with 104 goals (a school record in just two years), including a school-record 67 his senior year, picked up right where he left off at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, W.V.




Williams, an attacker who played in 14 games this season, including five starts, finished with 18 goals and five assists for 23 points. He was tied for second on the team in goals scored and he was third in the team in scoring.


Williams scpred a career-high four goals in a 241-0 loss against Post University on April 19. He also had a pair of three-goal games (v. Walsh on March 5 and Tusculum on April 24). Williiams tallied a goal in the season finale against Lindenwood in a 26-5 loss on April 26. The Battlers were 0-14 this season. Williams led WHS to its first district championship and the its first state playoff appearance last spring.
