What a difference a day makes. The Hickory Crawdads (16-21), who put up season highs in runs and hits Monday night, had the tables reversed on them Tuesday afternoon.

The Augusta Greenjackets hit three home runs and defeated the Crawdads 11-1 at L.P. Frans Stadium. Tuesday's loss concluded a disappointing 2-6 homestand for the 'Dads.

And the 11-run outburst by 'Jackets (17-21) marked the first time they have scored in double figures all season. The three home runs were also a season high. The GreenJackets entered their series in Hickory with only six home runs on the year. They belted seven home runs in their four-game series with the 'Dads.

Ryder Jones, who played at Watauga High last spring, had two home runs in the series. He was 2-5 with three RBI on Tuesday; he had five hits in the series and drove in seven runs. Teammates Leonardo Rojas was 2-4 with a home run; John Polonius (2-4 with a home run and three RBI.

The GreenJackets methodically built a 6-0 lead by the fifth inning. They finally broke the game open with five runs in the eighth. David Ledbetter (1-4) of the Crawdads took the loss. The right-hander allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits over his five innings pitched.

Evan Van Hoosier broke up Augusta's shutout bid with a triple to lead off the seventh. He scored on Ryan Cordell's sacrifice fly one out later. Van Hoosier was 1-4 with a triple and a run scored; Jairo Beras went 1-3 for the other Crawdads hit.

The Crawdads open a seven-game road trip in Charleston (S.C.) Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
