The Watauga High girls' soccer team close out the home portion of its regular-season schedule with a 2-1 win against Ashe County on Senior Night at Jack Groce Stadium.
Sierra Hill scored both of WHS' (14-4-3) goals. Her goal at the 64-minute mark of the second half tied the game at 1-1; she scored the game winner 13 minutes later. Hali Wood-Miller picked up the assist on Hill's first goal; India Roseman had the assist on Hill's game winner.
Bekah Bowers gave the Huskies snapped a scoreless tie with a goal in the 46th minute of the second half.
WHS won the junior varsity game, 5-0. Ellie Gottfried, Kelsey Boyle, Megan Gottfried, Sarah Patton and Mallory Coston scored for WHS. The Pioneers close out the regular season with a Northwestern 3A-4A Conference game at Fred T. Foard tonight.
The Pioneers are the No.3 seed overall in the NW3A-4A, but the No.1 seed among the Class 4A schools. The state playoffs begin next week.
NOTES: Erin Colby, Hali Wood-Miller, Kat Welsh, Kursten Stang, Madi Critcher, India Roseman, and Tori Derrick were the seniors that were honored before Thursday night's game.
