The Appalachian State University softball team, playing in its final Southern Conference Tournament dropped a 3-0 decision to Chattanooga Wednesday

morning's first-round game.

The Mountaineers (19-31) fell behind early thanks to Sarah Beth Roberts of the Mocs, who blasted a home run on the first pitch of the game deep to right field.

The Mocs (31-19) added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings on run-scoring singles by Alyssa Taylor and Kaiti Dutton. Katie Henderson turned in a dominate performance.

Henderson struck out the first seven hitters she faced. Henderson would struck out a tournament record 15 batters and scattered six hits.

Cynthia Gomez (Oxnard, Calif./Pacifica) led the Apps offensively finishing 3-3 at the plate---accounting for half of the Mountaineer hits in the game. Lindsay Loudermilk (Bluff City, Tenn./Sullivan East) was 2-3; Caroline Rogers (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) was 1-3.

Sydney Laws (Brownwood, Texas/Brownwood) was solid, but suffered the loss. She gave up three runs on five hits in 5.1 innings with four strikeouts. Alissa Schoelkopf (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) relieved Laws and got the final two outs in the sixth.
