Watauga High track coach Randy McDonough has released his list of regional qualifiers that will compete Saturday at the NCHSAA Class 4A Western Regional
championships at Providence High School in Charlotte, N.C.
The Pioneers will have 13 regional qualifiers and a relay team competing Saturday. The WHS girls have four qualifiers---Savanna Randle in the 100-meter dash, Kathleen Mansure in the 3,200-meter run, Alison Seramur in the pole vault and Clare Harris in the discus.
The WHS boys have eight qualifiers and the 4x800-meter relay team in the field---Jacob Soule and Michael Holland in the 3,200 (Soule was a regional qualifiers in the 1,600, but will bypass that event to concentrate on the 3,200), Zach Styron and T.J. Poulos in the 300-meter hurdles, Matt Hall and Justin Hall in the pole vault, Kenan Foxx in the shot put and the discus, Connor Pate in the 800. Soule, Holland, Matthew Hellenbrand and Pate make up the 4x800 relay team.
The Class 4A state championships will be held at North Carolina A&T University on Saturday, May 17.
