Danish Hands 'Dads Bitter Defeat PDF Print

Tyler Danish found a way to shut Hickory down Sunday night in a 3-1 win at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.

Danish, who entered the game with the best earned-run-average in the South Atlantic League, held the Crawdads to one hit over six innings. Danish, who had a 1.04 ERA to start the game, was working on a perfect game over the first four innings. Nomar Mazara broke that streak with a lead-off walk in the fifth.

But the Crawdads (14-14) didn't get on the board until the ninth when Kevin Torres doubled to center field with two outs breaking up the shutout. Danish (3-0) earned the win with his dominant performance. Cole Wiper (1-4) was saddled with the loss after allowing one run on seven hits over 3.2 innings. Kannapolis reliever David Putman earned his first save of the season despite giving up a run in the 9th.

Torres finished the night 1-4 with a double and a RBI. Travis Demeritte (1-2) and Nick Urbanus (1-3) picked up the other two Hickory hits.

The Crawdads go for the series win against the Intimidators (15-15) tonight at 7:05 p.m.
