The Watauga High boys' lacrosse team knocked off St. Stephens 11-6 Tuesday night at Leigh Wallace Memorial Field. The win moves WHS (4-6 overall; 4-2 North Carolina Conference 13) into a second-place tie with Freedom. The Pioneers close out the regular season against Freedom Thursday night.
The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. One of those games on Thursday will be a rescheduled game that was rained out on March 25.
Zack Williams led the way with four goals on Tuesday night. Canyon Mueller had three goals and Ben Henson scored twice. Silas Keeter and Dylan Arbogast each scored a goal.
The state playoffs begin next Wednesday. The Pioneers, if they get in, would be a wildcard team. WHS made the state playoffs last year and lost to Pfafftown-Reagan in the opening round.
