The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (20-28) ended the 2014 season on a nine-game winning streak after holding off Limestone (21-27), 5-4, Monday afternoon at Bears Field.

L-R junior Ivan Vieitez (Miami, Fla.) (5-5) earned the win after holding Limestone scoreless until the eighth inning while sophomore Nick Flachofsky (Pfafftown, N.C.) picked up his sixth save of the year to lead the Bears to the win.

Vieitez scattered five hits while striking out five batters and senior pinch hitter Mark Giles (Ridgefield, Conn.) had a key two-run single in the bottom of the seventh which helped stake the Bears to a 5-0 advantage

Limestone's Chris Scura (Selden, N.Y.) finished with three hits and two runs batted in but the Saints suffered their fourth straight setback. Limestone's Cameron Norwood (Rock Hill, S.C.) (0-1) took the loss.

The Saints scored twice in each of the eighth and ninth innings but Flachofsky struck out the final batter to preserve the victory for the Bears.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior outfielder Brandon Walker (Otisville, N.Y.) added two hits and drove in a run for the Bears, whose win streak is their longest since the 12 victories in a row during the 2009 campaign.

Limestone will next compete in the 2014 Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament on Thursday, April 24, against Erskine in Burlington, N.C., in the opening round.
