Vieitez Victimizes Greene, Bears Win Eighth Straight PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (18-28) won its seventh consecutive game with a 9-4 triumph over Pfeiffer (26-20) Friday afternoon in a non-conference affair at Joe Ferebee Field.




L-R junior outfielder Ivan Vieitez (Miami, Fla.) finished with three hits and three runs scored and hit a three-run home run in the second inning to lead the Bears to the victory.


Lenoir-Rhyne senior Eric Ryan (Baltimore, Md.) also picked up his second straight win on the mound. Ryan (3-4) allowed just one run in seven innings of work while scattering four hits and striking out three batters in the victory.


Vieitez helped the Bears take control early as Lenoir-Rhyne scored the first seven runs of the contest.


Lenoir-Rhyne senior outfielder Brandon Walker (Otisville, N.Y.) added two hits and two runs batted in as the Bears led by a 9-1 score after four innings of play and cruised to the win.


For Pfeiffer, Anthony Allende (Mount Pleasant, N.C.) had a two-run double in the eighth inning but Ethan Greene (Todd, N.C.) fell to 6-3 after suffering the loss. Greene went five innings and gave up nine earned runs on 11 hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Greene has now lost two in a row.


The two teams continue the weekend series at Bears Field with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
