|Pioneers Headed To Tarboro|

The Watauga High baseball team will travel to Taboro, N.C. for the Tarboro Easter Classic next week. The tournament, which begins Tuesday with a homne run hitting contest on Tuesday, April 22, will feature a six-team field. The teams will be divided into two pools with a round-robin schedule.
Competition begins Wednesday, April 23, with first-round games. The championship round will be played on Friday, April 25.
The Pioneers (7-9) will play start tournament play with a pair of games next Thursday, April 24. WHS will play Southampton High School from Courtland, VA., in the opening round Thursday at 1 p.m. Southampton is a Class 3A school and a member of Conference 25 in the Virginia High School Athletic Association. The Indians are currently 14-0.
The Pioneers take on Lawrence Academy (11-4) from Merry Hill, N.C., in Thursday's second game at 4:30 p.m. Lawrence Academy is a private school that was founded in 1968, and its one of four high school in Bertie County.
The tournament wraps up with three games on Friday. The fifth-place game starts at 1 p.m., the third place game begins at 4:30 p.m.; the championship game starts at 7 p.m.

Tiebreaker Rules: Seed teams after 2nd day of tournament.
If a 3 way 1-1 tie occurs during pool play, the tiebreaker is as follows:
1. Fewest runs allowed will be first criteria for gaining higher seed
2. If 2 of the 3 teams with 1-1 records have the same number of runs
allowed, more runs scored determines seed.
3. If somehow all 3 teams with 1-1 record finish with same number of
runs allowed, DRAW OUT OF A HAT FOR SEEDING.
