The Asheville Tourists played long ball Friday night, they jumped out to an early lead, and they blasted Hickory 9-2 at L.P. Fran Stadium. Asheville's offense, powered by a pair of two-run homers by David Dahl in the first inning and Ryan McMahon in the third, staked the Tourists (5-4) to an early 5-0 lead. Starting pitcher David Ledbetter (0-1) was on the receiving end and suffered the loss. The right-hander finally left the game in the fourth with the Crawdads (5-4) trailing, 7-0.

Lewis Brinson broke up the shutout with a solo home run in the sixth; Nick Vickerson added a run-scoring single to make it 7-2, but that was the extent of Hickory's rally.

The Tourists finished the game with 12 total hits, including two home runs and three doubles, while scoring two runs in the first, three in the third, two in the fourth, and two more in the eighth.

Alex Balog (1-1) went 5.1 innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts to get the win.

Brinson was 1-4 with his third home run of the season, but he also stuck out three times. Vickerson was 2-4 with an RBI; Nomar Mazara was 1-2 with a pair of walks. The Crawdads only made six hits and they committed four errors.

Game three of this four-game series begins tonight at 6 p.m.
