ASU Mens' Wins Carolina Cup PDF Print

Appalachian State University men's track and field wrapped up the Carolina Cup on Thursday, posting 16 top-three finishes. Samuel Allen led the high jumpers, finishing first in the event after clearing a height of 6-6.75, a new personal record. Phillip Thomas was first for the Mountaineers and fifth-overall, posting a mark of

14-11.00.

 

 

Jesse Earnhardt recorded a new personal record in the long jump and placed second, jumping a distance of 22-6.50, while Henry Bustle placed first in the triple jump with a personal best of 47-3.50.

 

Nathan Milch was the leader among the throwers as he placed second in the discus throw with a mark of 150-0.00. Milch followed that performance up with a second-place finish in the shot put witha distance of 47-2.25. Richard Bell led the team in the hammer throw, recording a distance of 159-10 and placing third. Ellsworth Parham was first for the Mountaineers in the javelin throw, posting a throw of 143-02.

 

The Mountaineers took the top-three spots in the 400m dash as Raphael Rojas placed first with a new personal record of 47.97. Joshua Hanna followed in second (48.99) and Trey Edgerton placed third (49.55).

 

Marshall McRae garnered a first-place finish in the 100m dash, posting a personal best of 10.72. William Buckley led the Apps in the 200m dash, placing second with a time of 22.25.

 

The 4x400 relay team of Hanna, McRae, Rojas and David Riddleberger posted their fastest time this season, placing first and finishing in 3:16.97.

 

The Appalachian State University women's track and field claimed first-place at the Carolina Cup at Winthrop on Thursday, posting 14 top-three finishes.

 

Cassie Crawford led the pole vaulters, finishing first by clearing a height of 12-5.50, her best height this season. Debra Domermuth followed in second-place with a mark of 11-11.75.

 

Krystal Clarke took first in the long jump, posting a jump of 17-9.75.

 

India McWhorter led the team in the discus throw, placing first and recording a new personal best of 139-9.00, while Ana DeLeon placed fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 97-8.00. Brianna Tate was first for the Mountaineers in the hammer throw as she recorded a personal best of 159-9.00. She then followed that performance up with a first-place finish in the shot put, notching a mark of 44-0.75.

 

Shelby Howell was first for the Apps in the 1,500m run, finishing with a time of 4:46.70. Taryn Stern and Justine Stocks finished first and second in the 800m run with times of 2:13.11 and 2:13.96, respectively.

 

Meaghan McCauley led Appalachian in the 3,000m run as she finished third with a time of 10:18.56.

 

Breanna Alston notched 10 points for the Mountaineers when she finished first in the 100m dash with a time of 11.77. Alston found another 10 points for the team, finishing first in the 200m dash with a time of 24.20.

 

The Mountaineers will return to action on April 19th when they travel to the Charlotte Invitational.
