The Watauga High girls' soccer team notched another win Wednesday win. The Pioneers (10-2-2) knocked off McDowell 3-0 in a non-conference game at Jack Groce Stadium.
Sierra Hill scorecd on a breakaway at the 19-minute mark of the first half for a 1-0 lead. Hali Wood-Miller scored in the 64th minute on a feed from mac Utter; Utter closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal 14 minutes later.
The WHS junior varsity team knocked off McDowell 4-0 Wednesday night. Amanda Lubkemann, Sarah Patton, Gracee Kleeberger and Olivia Grimm.
The Pioneers play Freedom at home on Friday.

WHS TENNIS ROLLS PAST PATTON, 8-1
The Watauga High boys' tennis team remained perfect in Northwestern 3A-4A Conference play with an 8-1 win against Patton Wednesday night at the WHS Tennis Courts.
The Pioneers (6-0 NW 3A-4A; 9-2 overall) took control by sweeping single play to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Landon Taylor and Dristen Trate set the tone with straight-set wins at No.1 and No.2 singles.
Taylor defeated Kyle Watson, 6-2, 6-1; Trate knocked off Derek Ipock, 6-1, 6-3, and the rout was on.
The Pioneers will celebrate Senior Day today against Freedom in their regular-season finale. WHS, a No.1 seed, will open the state playoffs at home on Tuesday, April 29. Regional play for individual tennis will be played May 2-3. The Class 4A Western Regional will be at Cornelius-Hough.

WHS SOFTBALL FALLS TO INDIANS
The Woes continue for the Watauga High softball team. The Pioneers (2-8 overall; 2-7 Northwestern 3A-4A Conference) committed five errors and lost to St. Stephens 10-2 on Wednesday in a NW3A-4A Conference game at the WHS Softball Complex.
The Pioneers out hit the Indians, 9-6. Leading 3-2, the Indians broke the game open with seven runs in the fifth inning. Michala McCune paced WHS offensively going 3-4 with a double and a run-batted-in. Elizabeth Dollar was 2-4 with a double and a run scored.
The Pioneers wrap up their busy week at home Friday against Freedom. Today's junior varsity doubleheader with Hibriten has been cancelled.
WHS LX EARNS A SPLIT....
The Watuaga High boys' lacrosse team picked up its second win of the season by knocking off St. Stephens 8-6 Wednesday night at St. Stephens. The Pioneers (2-5) were led by Silas Keeler, Canyon Mueller and Ben Henson, who had two goals apiece. Zack Williams, Zach Tomer each had one goal.
The WHS girls (0-6) lost to Kernersville-Bishop McGuinness 14-6 Wednesday at Leigh Wallace Memorial Field. Ellie Sloboda led the Pioneers with five goals and an assist. Gabbie Knight had the other WHS goal.
PORTER RELAY RESULTS....
The Watauga High boys' and girls' track teams competed at the Porter Relays in Lenior, N.C., Wednesday.
The WHS boys finished in a fourth-place tie with Ashe County with 55 points. The Pioneers won four events.
Zach Styron won the triple jump with an effort of 40-feet, 8.75 inches; Matt Hall won the pole vault (12-feet, 4-inches); WHS won the distance medley (11:25.20) and the Pioneers also won the 1,600-meter run relay (4:49.85).
The Pioneers also finished third in the 4x800 relay (8:36.41) and Kenon Fox finished third in the discus (43-0) and fourth in the shot put (126-07).
The WHS girls won three events and finished third with 50 points. Claire Harris won the discus (97-0), Alison Seramer won the pole vault (10-6), and WHS won the distance medley (14:11.98).
The Pioneers finished second in the 1,600 run relay (6:49.79).
Alexander Central won both the boys and girls meets. The girls bested the field with 110.98. Draughn finished second with 92.99 points.
The Cougars won the boys meet with 88 points; Hibriten and South Caldwell tied for second with 82 points. WHS travels to the Taco Bell Invitational in Columbia, S.C., Friday and Saturday.
