Pioneers Fall Short Against Butler PDF Print

The Watuaga High boys' lacrosse team is gradually getting better. The record may not show it, but the Pioneers (1-5) are slowly becoming a formidable foe.

That was evident Saturday against Butler. The Bulldogs staved off a pesky WHS team 11-6 at Leigh Wallace Memorial Field. Zac Williams and Ben Henson backboned WHS as they combined for five goals.

Williams finished with three; Henson had two. Canyon Mueller had a goal and goaltender Andrew Stratton made 14 saves for the Pioneers.

"We're getting better," said WHS coach Brett Green. "We play all (District 9) games from here on out."

The Pioneers travel to St. Stephens, weather-permitting, in a District 9 game Monday.
