The Watauga High girls' lacrosse team suffered a 17-7 loss Friday night at Kernersville-Bishop McGuinness. The Pioneers (0-4) trailed 12-4 at halftime. Junior midfielder Ellie Sloboda led the Pioneers with four goals and an assist; Courtney Kapral had two goals and two assists. Katie Marks had the other WHS goal.

Sophomore goalie Meghan Bisignani made 11 saves; fellow sophomore Sarah Williams played eight minutes and made one save in the loss.

"The girls played well and are improving," said WHS coach Holley Quick. "We are having to play very young, inexperienced girls for most of the game. They will get there."

The Pioneers travel to West Forsyth Tuesday.
