Lenoir-Rhyne University's Ivan Vieitez has been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher Of The Week, league officials announced this

afternoon.

Vieitez, a junior from Miami, Fla., threw a four-hit shutout over Newberry last Saturday in the nightcap of a doubleheader split on the road. Vieitez struck out seven batters as well in the 3-0 win against the Wolves.

Vieitez has won three straight games, all against league opponents, and has allowed just one earned run during that span.

Vieitez has a 3-4 record with a 3.67 earned run average, two complete games and 28 strikeouts so far this season.

Vieitez, a starting outfielder as well, was named the SAC Baseball Player Of The Week last Tuesday.

Vieitez, a first-team all-league honoree in 2013, currently leads the squad in batting average (.398), runs scored (18), total bases (54), slugging percentage (.524) and on-base percentage (.480).

Tusculum's Trey Drewery was named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player Of The Week today as well.

Lenoir-Rhyne (10-26, 6-16) returns to action this Friday against Anderson in Anderson, S.C., in a South Atlantic Conference game beginning at 6:00 p.m.

L-R senior Austen Gunnels (Hitchcock, Texas) (1-1) earned his first win of the season while sophomore Nick Flachofsky (Pfafftown, N.C.) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his third save of the year.

King rallied from a 4-0 deficit to tie the contest after plating four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Landon Weitekamp (Farmersville, Ill.) came through with the big hit in the frame with a two-run double to tie the score for the Tornado.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior catcher Read Brown (Indian Trail, N.C.) and senior second baseman Nate Martin (Lansing, N.Y.) each finished with a pair of hits and a run batted in as well.

Eric Stapleton (Defiance, Ohio) fell to 1-3 on the year for the Tornado, who suffered its seven consecutive setback.
