The Watauga Middle School boys' and girls' track teams hosted a meet at Jack Groce Stadium at Watauga High School Monday afternoon.




The Watauga girls' posted 18 top-five finishers and won six events. They also won the meet with 66.5 points. Starmount finished a distant second with 45 points.


Leading the way was Mary Louis Sprague, who posted three top-five finishes. She finished second in the girls' 400-meter dash in 14.33 seconds, and she finished second in the girls' 1,600-meter run (6:58.83). Sprague finished third in the 55-meter hurdles (11.71).


Rebecca Buckner won the girls' 200-meter dash (31.2) and finished third in the 100 (14.80); Anna Seeling won the girls' 1,600 (6:58.55); Emma Clark won the 400 (1:13.58); Hallie Lovin won the 800 (3:19.62); Watauga won the 4x200 relay (2:08.73); Kelsey Marlett won the high jump (4-02) and finished second in the long jump (11-02.75).


The Watauga boys finished third with 41 points. Starmount won the meet with 68 points; West Wilkes finished second with 42.


Watauga had 15 top-five finishers and won three events. Chase Scott won the boys' 200 (27.17) and finished second in the 100 (13.34); Chris Harrison won the 400 (1:03.43) and Josh Lamont captured the 800 (2:36.47).


Raphael Hernandez finished second in the boys' 1,600 (5:28.56).
