Lenoir-Rhyne University's Ivan Vieitez has been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.

Vieitez, a junior pitcher and outfielder from Miami, Fla., batted .611 (11-of-18) for the week with five runs scored, six doubles and seven runs batted in.

In addition, Vieitez allowed just two unearned runs to go along with six strikeouts while pitching into the ninth inning in a 4-2 victory over Carson-Newman in game one of a league doubleheader Saturday at home.

Vieitez had two or more hits in four of the team's five games last week including a three-for-three performance Friday night in a 9-6 triumph over Carson-Newman at Bears Field.

Vieitez, a 2013 First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honoree, leads the squad in batting average (.404), hits (36), total bases (48), slugging percentage (.539) and on-base percentage (.500) this year.

Vieitez is also 2-4 on the mound with 4.61 earned run average, 21 strikeouts and a complete game.

Wingate's Olen Little was named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher Of The Week.

Today's home baseball game with Winston-Salem State, scheduled for today at 6:00 p.m., has been postponed due to wet weather. No make-up date has been announced. Lenoir-Rhyne (8-24, 5-14) next travels to Newberry, S.C., to face Newberry in a South Atlantic Conference game on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
