Appalachian State University football has completed its 2015 non-conference schedule with a home game versus Howard and a road contest at Clemson, director of athletics Charlie Cobb announced on Tuesday. For the first time in 14 years, Appalachian State opens the 2015 campaign at home when it hosts Howard on Sept. 5. It is the first meeting between Appalachian State and Howard. Out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Howard has played at least one NCAA Division I FBS opponent every year since 2011 and is coming off a 6-6 season in 2013. Appalachian hasn't opened a season at home since Sept. 1, 2001, when it beat Liberty, 46-26.
