The Appalachian State University womens golf team is in ninth place after 18 holes on Sunday in the Low Country Intercollegiate at the par-72, 5,815 yard Moses Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
Appalachian did not get a total team effort in the first round carding a team score of 336 (+48).
Junior Haley Zagoria and freshman Emily Stinson are both tied for 22nd place overall but both are nine-over-par.
Freshman Hannah Craver is four strokes behind Zagoria and Stinson carding an 85 (+13)
Rounding out the counting scores is sophomore Madalyn Davis who carded a first round of 89 (+17).
Sophomore Lily Yatawara rounded out the Appalachian starting five and carded a tournament worst 95 (+23).
With one round left to play, Appalachian will be looking to improve on its positioning. Members of the Mountaineers squad will tee off at 9:30 a.m. Monday for the final round of competition.
Senior John Michael Cole of the men's team tied his season low round of 69 in the first round of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate at the par-70, 6,765 yard River Course of the Kingsmill Resort.
Cole is currently tied for second in the tournament, trailing UNCG's Carter Jenkins by one stroke.
Appalachian sits tied for eight place after the first round. With a score of 295, the Mountaineers trail tournament leaders Eastern Michigan and Texas Tech by seven strokes.
Eric Eberspeaker is in second for the Mountaineers and tied for 21st overall with a first-round score of 73 (+3).
Freshman Lee Mitchell is currently tied for 47th place overall after going five-over-par in the tournament thus far.
The last counting score came from Caleb Keck who carded a 78 (+8) in the round.
The Mountaineers will continue round two Monday with a shotgun time of 8:30 a.m.
