Lenoir-Rhyne University's Maryann Hoskins was named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher Of The Week, league officials announced today. Hoskins, a sophomore from Havelock, N.C., went 3-0 for the week with a 0.48 earned run average and 15 strikeouts as the Bears won all four contests.

Hoskins threw a three-hit shutout, her fifth of the year, in Lenoir-Rhyne's 4-0 victory over Francis Marion last Wednesday at home to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Hoskins also registered both victories over Anderson - 6-5 in eight innings and 12-1 in five innings - last Saturday afternoon in the South Atlantic Conference opener in Anderson, S.C.

Hoskins, a 2013 All-South Atlantic Conference First-Team honoree, is currently 10-3 on the year with a 0.92 earned run average and 95 strikeouts for the Bears.

Wingate's Taylor Laskey was named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player Of The Week.

Lenoir-Rhyne (20-5, 2-0), winners of five straight games, returns to action on Wednesday afternoon in a league doubleheader at Bears Field against Newberry beginning at 3:00 p.m.
