|WHS Track Finishes Fourth At ACR|

The Watauga High boys' and girls' track teams both turned in fourth-place finishes Friday night at A.C. Reynolds. The WHS boys produced 21 top-ten place finishers, including ten in the top-five. The Pioneers, who didn't win any events on Friday, also produced four second-place finishes.
Kenon Foxx, Zach Styron, Michael Holland, and Matthew Hall all finished second in their respective events to paced the Pioneers.
Foxx finished second in the shot put with a throw of 42-feet, 07-inches; Styron finished second in the 300-meter hurdles as he finished the race in 42.7 seconds. He finished fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 38-6. Holland had a second-place finish in the 3,200 (10:21.8), and Hall finished second in the pole vault as he cleared the bar with an effort of ten feet.
Jacob Rutz had a third-place in the boys' discus throw with a toss of 115-07; the 4x800 relay team finished third in 9:12.2; Hall finished third in the high jump with an effort of 5-10; WHS finished third in the 4x200 relay (1:37.5). Justin Hall finished fourth in the 200 (23.9).
The boys finished fourth with 66 points. Asheville won the meet with 147 points. Asheville-Roberson finished second with 134; ACR finished third with 91 points.
The WHS girls had 15 top-ten finishers, including eight in the top five. Kathleen Mansure, Alison Seramer and a pair of relay teams led the way for WHS.
Mansure finished second in the 3,200 (12:45.7), Seramer finished second in the pole vault (9-0), the 4x100 finished second in 54.9, the 4x200 relay finished second in 1:58.1.
Savannah Randle finished third in the girls' 200 (28.1). the 4x400 relay team finished fourth in 5:01.3. The 4x800 relay finished fourth in 11:34.5.
The Pioneers finished fourth with 52 points. Asheville-Roberson dominated the meet with 219.33 points; ACR finished second with 144.33; Asheville finished a distant third with 53 points.
The Pioneers travel to Fred T. Foard in Newton, N.C., for a quad-meet Wednesday with the Tigers, Hibriten and St. Stephens.
