Appalachian State University men’s soccer head coach Matt Nelson released the spring schedule on Friday. The Mountaineers will played two full games while

also traveling to three mini tournaments to play a variety of competition in 30 and 40 minute halves. The schedule is in preparation of the Apps’ inaugural season in the Sun Belt Conference for the 2014 fall season.


The schedule begins on Tuesday, March 18 when the Apps travel to Charlotte to challenge United Soccer League (USL) member, Charlotte Eagles.


On March 29, the Black and Gold will host Presbyterian in Boone for the second full game played during the spring season. Following Presbyterian, the Apps will host High Point, Lees-McRae and Young Harris in a mini tournament with shorter halves than normal.


The squad will then travel to UNCG twice to finish the spring slate. The first of two will be played on April 12 and will involve UNCG, Guilford College, Presbyterian, Anderson and Liberty. On April 26, the Mountaineers will wrap up the spring season with the last tournament at UNCG that includes the host Spartans and National Premier Soccer League member, Gate City FC.
