White Ties For Seventh At Rendleman Invite PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team shot a 616 (+48) to tie for seventh overall at the 2014 Richard Rendleman Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at the Country Club of Salisbury.


Limestone won in a playoff over UNC Pembroke. Both schools shot a 598 (+30) on the par-71, 6,665-yard course.


Lenoir-Rhyne was led by senior John White (Dudley Shoals, N.C.). White tied for seventh overall with a 147 (+5).


Wingate's Benedict Gebhardt defeated Queens' Alex Weare in a playoff to win the individual title. Both players carded an even-par 142 for the tournament.


Lenoir-Rhyne senior Drew Alford (Statesville, N.C.) finished tied for 27th overall with a 154 (+12) as well for the Bears.


The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team next competes in the Pinehurst Challenge in Pinehurst, N.C., on March 17 and 18.

Winston-Salem State Hands Lenoir-Rhyne Road Loss, 6-1 In Baseball



The Winston-Salem State Baseball Team (11-5) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (4-15), 6-1, Tuesday evening at BB&T Ballpark.


The Rams broke a 1-1 tie with five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. All five runs scored by Winston-Salem State were unearned as L-R committed a pair of errors in the frame.


The Rams' Connor Andrus (Winston-Salem, N.C.) drove in the game-winning run with a single with the bases loaded while Devin McLemore (High Point, N.C.) added two RBI in the inning as well.


Lenoir-Rhyne senior outfielder Brandon Walker (Otisville, N.Y.) drove in the Bears' only run with an RBI single in the top of the third inning.


For Winston-Salem State, Eric Corlett (Kernersville, N.C.) (1-0) earned the win in middle relief while Rafael Gonzalez (Caracas, VENEZUELA) finished with three hits as the Rams won their 10th straight game.


Lenoir-Rhyne's starter, freshman Thomas St. Clair (Winston-Salem, N.C.), allowed just run over six innings in addition to six strikeouts but sophomore Wes McGuire (Richmond, Va.) (0-1) took the loss for the Bears.


Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Brevard in a non-conference regional game on Wednesday at Bears Field beginning at 4:00 p.m. Winston-Salem State travels to Petersburg, Va., to take on Virginia State in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
