Lenoir-Rhyne's Sydney Landreth has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.  Landreth, a freshman first baseman from Disputanta, Va., hit .471 (eight-for-17) for the week with five runs scored and six runs batted in and led the Bears to a 6-1 week.


Landreth hit safely in six of the seven games last week including a pair of hits in victories over Lander (7-0) and Columbus State (9-0) last Saturday and Sunday, respectively, in the Mid-South Classic in Duncan, S.C. Landreth also drove in a pair of runs against the Cougars on Sunday. In addition, Landreth had at least one RBI in five games last week and drew six walks.


Landreth is second on the team in batting average (.360), home runs (three) and runs batted in (13) to go along with a .660 slugging percentage and a .459 on-base percentage. Catawba's Carley Tysinger was named the South Atlantic Conference Pitcher Of The Week.


Lenoir-Rhyne (15-4), winners of four straight games, returns to action on Thursday afternoon in a doubleheader against Lander in Greenwood, S.C., beginning at 3:30 p.m.
