The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team sits in ninth place Monday after the first day of the Irish Creek Invitational as the Bears opened the spring season.
L-R shot a 309 (+25) on the par-71, 7,009-yard course at The Club at Irish Creek. Barton, Limestone and Newberry are all tied for first place with a 291 (+7).
Charlotte's Thomas Rowland and Limestone's Will Woodard are tied for first place with a one-under 70.
Lenoir-Rhyne is led by senior John White (Dudley Shoals, N.C.), who is tied for sixth place with a 72 (+1) while junior David Donovan (Hampstead, N.C.) is tied for 44th with a 78 (+7) for the Bears.
The second and final day of the tournament takes place on Tuesday.

Squires Named SAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player Of Week
Lenoir-Rhyne University's Alex Squires has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.
Squires, a junior goalkeeper from Lawrenceville, Ga., finished with 20 saves last Saturday in L-R's 7-6 victory over Belmont Abbey in the team's home opener.
For the season, Squires has made two starts to go along with 27 saves and a .659 save percentage.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team (1-1) next hosts third-ranked Adelphi (0-0) on Tuesday at Moretz Stadium beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Notches Victory Over Saint Leo, 14-9
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (2-1) defeated Saint Leo (1-1), 14-9, Monday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.
L-R sophomore midfielder Claire Wach (Cary, N.C.) led the way with four goals and two assists while freshman midfielder Kelsie Swanson (Baltimore, Md.) scored three times to lead the Bears to their second straight win.
Saint Leo was led by Allie Sheftall (Austin, Texas) with four goals as well despite the loss.
L-R took control early, building an 8-2 advantage 20 minutes into the match capped off by a goal from sophomore midfielder Bailey Leonard (Cornelius, N.C.) and held a 10-4 lead at intermission.
The Lions tried to rally in the second half with three consecutive goals to cut the Bears' lead to 12-8 with 7:54 remaining but Swanson scored the last two goals for L-R to put the match away.
Lenoir-Rhyne junior midfielder Lauren Donovan (Hollywood, Md.) added a pair of goals and an assist while senior goalkeeper Amanda Cotto (Fort Myers, Fla.) finished with 14 saves in the win.
The Bears also held the advantage in both shots taken (41-30) and ground balls (33-32) in the victory as well.
For Saint Leo, Kelsey Burns (Howell, N.J.) scored twice while Brittany Millsap (St. Louis, Mo.) suffered the loss in goal despite tallying seven saves on the afternoon.
Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Young Harris, Ga., to take on Young Harris Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Saint Leo hosts Gannon on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
