|Mountaineers Down SIUE In Season Finale|

The Appalachian State University wrestling team defeated SIU-Edwardsville 27-12 at Varsity Gym in a Southern Conference match on Sunday afternoon. The Mountaineers close out the regular season with a three-match winning streak.
ASU (6-8 overall; 4-3 SoCon) jumped out to a 12-0 lead thanks to Dominic Parisi, who defeated Dakota Leach by pinfall in 2:51 at 125 pounds, and Vito Pasone, who won his match by forfeit at 133.
John Petrov of SIUE pucked up three points as he defeated Javon Johnson of the Apps at 141 pounds, but the Mountaineers took command by winning the next two bouts.
Dylan Cottrell picked up six points as he pinned Karston Van Velsor of SIUE for an 18-3; Aaron Scott made it 21-3 as he defeated Logun Taylor 5-4 at 157 pounds.
SIUE picked up three consecutive wins to narrow the gap to nine points at 21-12, but Tyler Radford defeated Josh Wood 8-5 at 197 pounds to clinch the match; Denzel Dejounette closed things out with a 6-5 win over David Devine at 285.
The Mountaineers travels to Bules Creek, N.C. on Saturday, March 8 for the SoCon championships. Campbell will be the host school.
