The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team (13-10, 12-7) rallied from a three-point deficit with under two minutes left to defeat Catawba (6-17, 6-13), 53-49, Wednesday evening at Goodman Gymnasium in a South Atlantic Conference contest.

Senior guard R.J. McClure (Canton, N.C.) finished with a team-high 14 points for the Bears, who ended the game with a 7-0 run in the final 1:44 of regulation to sweep the season series from the Indians.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior forward Allan Jones (Clemmons, N.C.) added 12 points off the bench as the Bears won their second straight game.

The Indians lost despite a game-high 16 points and 17 rebounds from Tyrece Little (Greenville, N.C.) and 11 points from Elon Edwards (Greenville, N.C.).

Catawba also hit just two-of-14 three-point attempts (14 percent) and turned the ball over 18 times while losing for the seventh time in the last eight games.

The 197th meeting between the long-time league rivals featured six ties and 11 lead changes but the Bears beat the Indians for the fourth straight time.

Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Greeneville, Tenn., to take on Tusculum in a South Atlantic Conference game while Catawba remains at home to face league-rival Brevard. Both games are scheduled to tip at 4:00 p.m.
