Due to the effects of the winter storm that moved through the southeast this week, Appalachian State University men's basketball's contest against Samford has been moved to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Holmes
Samford arrived in the High Country on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday's winter storm, making it imperative that the game be played on Thursday as opposed to Samford missing more class time to travel back to Appalachian State at a later date.
The decision to move the game up to 4 p.m. came from the University's desire to play the contest during daylight hours for the safety of those who must travel to and from the Holmes Center. Coverage begins at 3:15 p.m. on the ASU-IMG Sports Network and locally on AM 1450,m WATA.
"With Samford and the game officials already safely in town, it was in the best interests of all involved to play the game today as opposed to asking Samford to come back to Boone at a later date," director of athletics Charlie Cobb said. "We appreciate the extraordinary efforts of vice chancellor Greg Lovins and physical plant director Mike O'Connor to allow us to play the game today."
