Bobcat Track & Field Squads Crack Top-10 PDF Print

The Lees-McRae men's and women's track & field teams have cracked the top-10 in the Southeast Region of the Division II U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, according to polls

Wednesday morning.

 

 

The men's squad jumped four spots to claim ninth place with 58.11 points. LMC participated in the Hilton Garden Invitational on the campus of Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. over the weekend. Senior Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) earned a ninth-place finish in the pole vault while 4x400 relay team finished 26th.

 

Wingate holds a steady first-place advantage while conference foes Mount Olive, King, Limestone and Belmont Abbey sit second, third, sixth and eighth, respectively.

 

On the women's side, the Bobcats joined the top-10 after jumping two spots since last week and sit 10th. LMC amassed 56.71 points while Wingate jumped into first place.

 

Freshman Erin Bingham (Jefferson, N.C.) impressed in her spring debut with a time of 28.29 seconds performance in the 200-meter race. Bingham used a 9.54 second performance to qualify for the 60-meter hurdles. She finished 25th overall with a time of 9.62 in the semifinals.

 

Conference Carolinas is well-represented with four schools in the top-10, including Mount Olive at second.

 

LMC returns to action this weekend with a short trip to Boone to participate in the Mountaineer Open.
