UPDATED: WHS Swimming Headed To Regionals PDF Print

Watauga High swimming coach David Gragg has released his list of regional qualifiers.

 

The Pioneers will be sending four individuals and two relay teams to the Class 4A Western Regional championships at the Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics Center in Huntersville, N.C., Saturday. And due to the recent snow storm, Saturday's regional starting time has been changed to at 10:35  a.m.

 

Three regionals, the Class 1A/2A East Regional, the Class 3A East Regional and the Class 3A West Regional have been rescheduled for next Monday, February 3.

 

Northwestern 3A/4A Conference champion, Anne Taylor (in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly), and Julianna Silver (100-meter breaststroke) will represent the WHS girls; conference champion Reed Conner (100-meter freestyle) and Nick Woody (in the 200- and 400-meter freestyle events) will represent the WHS boys individually.

 

Conner and Wood will team up with Joel Brown and Ben Watson in the 200- and 400-meter freestyle relays. The top eight finishers in each event will qualify for the state championships at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, N.C., next weekend.

WHS BOYS:

Nick Woody - 200 Free, 100 Back

***NOTES: The WHS boys qualified in the 200 Medley Relay, but according to Gragg, they will won't swim on Saturday. The WHS girls qualified in all three relays but will not compete because of injury and illness.
