The Anderson Women's Basketball Team (9-7, 5-5) completed the season sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne (11-4, 6-4) with a 76-67 triumph Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference game at the Abney

Athletic Center.

The Trojans' Jasmine Franklin (Simpsonville, S.C.) led four players in double figures with a team-high 15 points off the bench as Anderson won its second straight contest.

The Bears, who saw their six-game winning streak come to an end, were led by junior guard Jazmine Charles (Lexington, N.C.) with a game-high 17 points while senior guard Brittany Christian (Raleigh, N.C.) added 16 points in the setback.

Anderson built a 43-30 advantage at halftime and held off an L-R rally in the second half to pull out the victory.

Lenoir-Rhyne cut the lead to three points on several occasions late in the contest but couldn't get any closer. Christian sank a pair of free throws to slice the margin to 64-61 with 2:58 remaining but Anderson responded with a three-pointer by Franklin and the home team remained in control to the end.

For the Trojans, Heather Jankowy (Walhalla, S.C.) added 14 points and Jennifer Monroe (Clemson, S.C.) tallied a double-double - 12 points and 11 rebounds - while Anderson finished 25-of-29 (86 percent) from the charity stripe in the win.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior forward Nneka Awuruonye (Charlotte, N.C.) also scored in double figures, totaling 12 points but the Bears shot just 38 percent (24-of-64) from the floor including 20 percent (two-of-10) from three-point land.

In the next slate of South Atlantic Conference games on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m., Lenoir-Rhyne faces Queens in Charlotte, N.C., while Anderson travels to Brevard, N.C., to play Brevard.

Anderson Downs Lenoir-Rhyne, 79-61

The Anderson Men's Basketball Team (11-5, 6-4) outscored Lenoir-Rhyne (7-7, 6-4) by 20 points in the second half en route to a 79-61 victory Saturday afternoon at the Abney Athletic Center in a South Atlantic Conference game.

The Trojans' Chandler Hash (Greer, S.C.), the league's leading scorer, finished with a team-high 21 points while Myson Jones (Aiken, S.C.) scored 18 points including 13 in the second half to go along with four treys in the win.

L-R lost despite a combined 41 points from both senior guard R.J. McClure (Canton, N.C.) and sophomore guard Will Perry (Wake Forest, N.C.).

McClure led all scorers with 22 points in addition to six three-pointers while Perry added 19 points and hit all 10 free throw attempts for the second straight game. Perry has now made 36 consecutive free throws.

Lenoir-Rhyne held the lead at halftime over Anderson by a 37-35 score before the Trojans took over after intermission. Anderson scored the first nine points of the second half and never looked back.

McClure hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to 54-50 with 11:54 remaining in the contest but Anderson responded with the next seven points and slowly pulled away from there. McClure now has 18 treys in the past two contests despite back-to-back setbacks by the Bears.

Anderson, which avenged an earlier one-point loss to Lenoir-Rhyne, held a 45-26 edge on the boards and limited L-R to just 29 percent shooting (17-of-59) for the game en route to its second straight win.

Lenoir-Rhyne next faces Queens in a South Atlantic Conference game on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m., in Charlotte, N.C. Anderson, meanwhile, hits the road to face Brevard in a league game Wednesday night beginning at 8:00 p.m., as well.
