The Anderson Women's Basketball Team (9-7, 5-5) completed the season sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne (11-4, 6-4) with a 76-67 triumph Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference game at the Abney
The Trojans' Jasmine Franklin (Simpsonville, S.C.) led four players in double figures with a team-high 15 points off the bench as Anderson won its second straight contest.
The Bears, who saw their six-game winning streak come to an end, were led by junior guard Jazmine Charles (Lexington, N.C.) with a game-high 17 points while senior guard Brittany Christian (Raleigh, N.C.) added 16 points in the setback.
Anderson built a 43-30 advantage at halftime and held off an L-R rally in the second half to pull out the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne cut the lead to three points on several occasions late in the contest but couldn't get any closer. Christian sank a pair of free throws to slice the margin to 64-61 with 2:58 remaining but Anderson responded with a three-pointer by Franklin and the home team remained in control to the end.
For the Trojans, Heather Jankowy (Walhalla, S.C.) added 14 points and Jennifer Monroe (Clemson, S.C.) tallied a double-double - 12 points and 11 rebounds - while Anderson finished 25-of-29 (86 percent) from the charity stripe in the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne senior forward Nneka Awuruonye (Charlotte, N.C.) also scored in double figures, totaling 12 points but the Bears shot just 38 percent (24-of-64) from the floor including 20 percent (two-of-10) from three-point land.
In the next slate of South Atlantic Conference games on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m., Lenoir-Rhyne faces Queens in Charlotte, N.C., while Anderson travels to Brevard, N.C., to play Brevard.
