The University of Alabama-Birmingham will interview former Wake Forest football coach Jim Grobe in Atlanta on Friday. Grobe, who is 61-years-old, spent 13 years at Wake Forest, where he led the Demon Decons to the ACC Championship in 2006 and the Orange Bowl.

Grobe resigned after the 2013 season. Grobe was 77-82 during his stay at Wake Forest, including 5-7 this past fall. He was 33-33-1 in six seasons at Ohio University before he came to Winston-Salem

UAB is looking for a head coach to replace Garrick McGee, who resigned last Thursday to become the offensive coordinator at Louisville. UAB will also interview Cincinnati offensive coordinator Eddie Gran, Bethune-Cookman head coach Brian Jenkins, Atlanta Falcons tight end coach Chris Scelfo and Jacksonville State head coach Bill Clark.

The Blazers, members of Conference USA, were 2-10 in 2013.
