The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team (10-3, 5-3) increased its winning streak to five games with an easy 84-45 victory over Tusculum (1-11, 1-7) Saturday evening in a South Atlantic Conference

game at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

L-R junior guard Jazmine Charles (Lexington, N.C.) once again led the Bears in scoring, finishing with a game-high 25 points while senior guard Brittany Christian (Raleigh, N.C.) tallied a season-high 15 points including three treys in the win.

Three players scored nine points for Tusculum - Blakeley Burleson (Piney Flats, Tenn.), Nequioah Anderson (Washington, D.C.) and Kristen McMillion (Fayetteville, N.C.) - but the Pioneers shot just 28 percent (16-of-58) in the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne put the game away by halftime, holding a 41-19 advantage entering intermission and extending its lead to as many as 45 points on a lay-up by freshman forward Brooke Robinson (Vale, N.C.) for a 81-36 margin with just under three minutes left in the contest.

Lenoir-Rhyne also held a 45-29 advantage on the boards and forced Tusculum into 26 turnovers in the game.

In addition, senior guard Danielle Bongiorno (Wilmington, N.C.) and junior guard Jenni Gust (Colfax, Wis.) added 10 points each for the Bears, who shot 59 percent (33-of-56) from the field in the victory.

In the next round of South Atlantic Conference games on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., Lenoir-Rhyne faces Newberry on the road while Tusculum returns home to take on league-foe Lincoln Memorial.
